pearl HARBOR
In the beginning of World War II, Japan was trying to expand its empire. The US had not joined the war at that time but they didn’t approve what Japan was doing. Japan then formulated a plan to attack the US. On December 7th, 1941 Japanese planes conducted a surprise attack by dropping bombs on the US Navy base Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii. There were both Japanese and American casualties. About 2,390 Americans were killed and 64 Japanese. 164 American and 29 Japanese aircrafts were destroyed. Though the Japanese attempted to decrease the US moral, the US then declared war the next day.
