Benito MussoliniBenito Mussolini (29 July 1883 – 28 April 1945) was an Italian Socialist who began the first European Fascist regime in Italy. Mussolini created the political group known as the League of Combat or Fascio di Combattimento in Italian. Mussolini believed that the state should be the number one priority above all, thus stating that the central government must be led by a dictatorial ruler.Mussolini became the dictatorial ruler of Italy by threatening the King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III, to march into Rome with his army of fascists unless Victor made him prime minister. Victor afraid of Mussolini’s threats made him prime minister, and Mussolini then used his power in the government to create the Fascist regime. He also eliminated all other political parties with the help of the secret police, and by the end of the 1922 Mussolini became the leader of Italy.
